A legacy
worth honoring.

Chateau de Vie first debuted in 1999 with an estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, cultivated from our vineyard in the heart of Calistoga. The estate — a celebrated vineyard and charming manor house — carries decades of history in every vine.

In 2022, Eric and Brenda King acquired this remarkable property with one goal: to steward its legacy while bringing a fresh vision grounded in authenticity, sophistication, and soul. Every decision begins and ends with the land.

In 2024, they welcomed acclaimed winemaker Angelina Mondavi and expanded the portfolio to include a vibrant Sauvignon Blanc — a natural complement to the estate's enduring Cabernet.

The CDV label pushes forward — bold, spare, singular. Dark cassis, graphite, and a long finish that lingers like the last light over the Mayacamas. Our most expressive statement in a bottle.

The Winemaker

Angelina
Mondavi.

"Born into a family that needs no introduction to wine lovers worldwide."

Angelina began her career at age 10 assisting the lab manager at her family's winery, Charles Krug. After graduating from Villanova University with a degree in chemistry, she gained invaluable experience in the Barossa Valley of Australia and earned a Master's Degree in Oenology from the University of Adelaide.

Upon returning to Napa Valley in 2007, Angelina lent her craft to stalwart brands and dynamic startups alike — ultimately joining her sisters to launch Dark Matter and Aloft, two highly sought-after Howell Mountain wines.

Today, with more than 28 harvests behind her, she serves as consulting winemaker for C. Mondavi & Family and directs every vintage at Chateau de Vie with the precision the estate deserves.

"We are blessed beyond measure — and we take that seriously."

The sacred heart at the center of everything we do is not just a mark — it is a declaration. Eric and Brenda King are people of Christian faith, and they see the Chateau de Vie story as one of grace: a gift from God, held in stewardship, offered to the world.

Their love affair with Napa Valley began in 2010, when they first visited Calistoga and felt something they could not explain. The valley had a pull — its history, its soil, its unhurried beauty. Over the years that pull only deepened, until one day they were no longer visitors. They were home.

Today, Eric and Brenda are blessed to be the stewards of two of Calistoga's most storied properties — Chateau de Vie and The Francis House. Both are rooted in a love of history and wine, and a conviction that what God places in your hands should be honored, cared for, and made more beautiful than you found it. These are not just projects. They are acts of love — for the land, for the craft, and for everyone who walks through the door.

Every vintage is its own chapter — shaped by the sun, the rain, the frost, and the season God ordained for that year. No two harvests are the same, and we believe that is intentional. Each bottle carries the fingerprint of a specific moment in time, a unique expression of His design for that year. Our job is simply to listen to the land, trust the process, and let what is meant to be, be.
